School is killing creativity !

 Why school kill creativity?

Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity and contests the way we’re educating our children. He works for a radical rethink of our school systems, to promote creativity and recognize multiple types of intelligence.

Why you should listen to him?

Why don’t we get the best out of people? Sir Ken Robinson says that it’s because we’ve been educated to become good workers, rather than creative thinkers. Students with restless minds and bodies — far from being cultivated for their energy and curiosity — are ignored or even stigmatized, with terrible consequences.

“We are educating people out of their creativity,” Robinson says.

This is a deep message. Robinson’s TEDTalk has been distributed widely around the Web since its release in June 2006. I also think that everyone should watch this and take small actions to challenge our education processes.

  • Remain an artist as you grow up or sign up in artistic activities

  • Use humor to tell your stories

  • When you don’t know something, have a go into it

  • There is nothing wrong being wrong. Just be prepared to be wrong.

  • Don’t stigmatize mistakes

  • If we don’t grow into creativity, we grow out of it or get educated out of it

  • Intelligence is interactive, the brain isn’t divided in departments

  • Creativity comes from different disciplinary ways of seeing things
